The rehabilitation of the Skyline Parking Garage was a thorough and strategic effort to restore its structural integrity and enhance its longevity. Duron implemented a series of vital repairs and upgrades, addressing both the concrete and steel elements of the structure to bring the facility back to optimal condition. Given Ottawa’s harsh weather conditions, which can significantly impact the durability of parking lot surfaces, this comprehensive approach was essential in ensuring the garage could withstand the elements and continue to perform effectively for years to come.

The process began with the rehabilitation of the top concrete slab surface, which included repairing significant cracking and reinforcing structural steel throughout the slabs. The original drains were outdated and ineffective, leading to water pooling and contributing to further damage. We replaced the old drains with new, high-performance drainage systems, strategically placed to ensure proper water flow and prevent moisture accumulation on the surface.

A key engineering component of the restoration was the installation of a durable 48,000 SF Tremco hybrid system, which included upturns at the walls for added protection against the elements. We also replaced the expansion joints, restoring both flexibility and structural integrity to prevent future cracking and deterioration.

Finally, we applied high-visibility, long-lasting traffic markings in accordance with design specifications, ensuring both safety and durability in high-traffic areas. The result is a rejuvenated parking garage that will serve its purpose for years to come, with enhanced performance and extended longevity
